Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today filed a appeal to the Supreme Court to get back its registration with the Election Commission as a political party.<\/p>\n
\u201cBangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has filed a petition to the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division for restoration of the appeal as it was \u2018dismissed for default\u2019 by the Supreme Court earlier, Jamaat\u2019s lawyer Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir told the BSS today.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf our appeal is allowed, we will get the registration back. We will get back the party symbol,\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Advocate Shishir added saying then Jamaat-e-Isami will have no bar to take part in the national polls as a political party.<\/p>\n
The party decision to file the revival of the petitions came days after the interim government in an executive order allowed Jamaat-e-Islami to carry on its activities.<\/p>\n
The Election Commission earlier scrapped Jamaat\u2019s registration while the erstwhile deposed government of Sheikh Hasina banned its activities on August 1, 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
