ET Desk:<\/strong>Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar issued a statement Friday, April 24, 2026, strongly condemning and protesting the barbaric attack by Chhatra Dal leaders and activists on DUCSU leaders after entering the Shahbagh Police Station in the capital and the attacks on Chhatra Shibirs in Pabna and Comilla.<\/p>\n

In a statement, he said, “The barbaric and cowardly attack by Chhatra Dal leaders and activists on DUCSU’s Literary and Cultural Affairs Secretary Musaddiq Ali and Social Services Secretary AB Zubair and DUCSU’s female leader Juma inside Shahbagh Police Station on Thursday evening, April 23, is extremely sad and unwelcome. This despicable attack on the elected popular representatives of thousands of students cannot be accepted in a democratic and civilized society. We strongly condemn and protest this incident.”<\/p>\n

He also said that a fake ID was used to spread the rumor in the name of Dhaka University student Abdullah Al Mahmud. He denied it and posted it on his page, but he was threatened with death. For his safety, when he went to file a general diary (GD) at Shahbagh police station, he was detained without accepting the GD. When AB Zubair and Mosaddek Ali went to the police station to resolve the matter, Chhatra Dal terrorists seriously injured them in the presence of the police.<\/p>\n

He expressed deep concern over the role of the police, saying that while the police are supposed to provide security to the citizens, they have played a passive role, which is highly condemnable. This role of the police, being used as a lathi-charge force of the oppressive ruling class, is reminiscent of the fascist behavior of the past. The countrymen are very concerned about this despicable role of the police.<\/p>\n

He said that on Thursday afternoon, Chhatra Dal leaders and activists attacked a peaceful procession of Islami Chhatra Shibir at Ishwardi Government College in Pabna, injuring several people. In addition, on the night of April 23, at least 20 leaders and activists were injured in an attack on the Chhatra Shibir at Comilla Polytechnic Institute. These incidents show that there is a planned attempt to destabilize educational institutions.<\/p>\n

Mia Golam Parwar said, such political vindictive attacks on the elected representatives of students of the country’s top universities like Dhaka University, as well as the Ishwardi and Comilla Polytechnic Institute Islami Chhatra Shibirs, are in no way desirable. It is very important to ensure the coexistence of all student organizations in the academic campus and maintain a fair environment for education.<\/p>\n

The country’s conscious student community and administration must remain vigilant to prevent any attempt to disrupt the safety of students and the proper environment for education. But we are observing with concern that Chhatra Dal is inciting violence by violating etiquette.<\/p>\n

He also said that those involved in the attack on DUCSU leaders by entering Shahbagh police station must be immediately identified, arrested and given exemplary punishment.
