IU correspondent<\/strong>: The Islamic University of Kushtia (IU) authorities has formed a five-member committee to investigate allegations of involvement in secret anti-state activities against 44 teachers.<\/p>\n

Professor Dr. Md. Manjurul Haque, acting registrar of the university, confirmed this this regard. The committee has been formed with the university’s pro-vice-chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Emtaz Hossain, as the convener. While Md. Israful Haque, an officer of the finance and accounts department, is a member secretary.<\/p>\n

However, Professor Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman of the Department of Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies, Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, the university panel, and Bangladesh Supreme Court lawyer Dr. Md. Sazzat Hossain have been named as members of the committee.<\/p>\n

The committee has been formed to investigate the newspaper report alleging the involvement of 44 IU teachers in anti-state activities and submit a report on the matter.<\/p>\n

The committee has been tasked with identifying any teachers found to have been involved in anti-state activities and submitting its recommendations on August 12. It will also investigate allegations that the teachers named in the published report took part in the suppression of and violence against the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement during the tenure of the previous fascist government.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Islamic University Teachers’ Organization Zia Parishad and Green Forum have strongly condemned and protested against the anti-state fascist activities of some public university teachers and the terrorist activities of various groups recently reported in the media.<\/p>\n

Professor Dr. Emtaz Hossain, the university’s Pro-Vice Chancellor and convener of the committee, said, “I have just received the letter. We will begin the investigation tomorrow and hope to submit the report within the stipulated timeframe.”<\/p>\n

Earlier, VC Professor Dr. AKM Matinur Rahman told reporters that the university’s previous administration had taken various measures against the teachers accused of opposing the July movement. “I can’t explain why they later reversed that decision,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Since a political party has been banned, if its followers or those who subscribe to its ideology organize under any name and any evidence or document to that effect reaches us, we will certainly take appropriate action,” he added.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that at its 271st (general) meeting on October 30, the Syndicate decided to suspend 19 teachers and 11 officials and expel 33 students while revoking their academic certificates over their alleged anti-revolutionary role during the July\u2013August 2024 uprising at the Islamic University. The university administration later lifted the suspensions of the 19 teachers and 11 officials and reinstated them to their positions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
