ET Desk<\/strong>: Leaders of several journalist organisations, including the Bangladesh Rural journalists Union (BRJU), National Press Club, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), have congratulated BFUJ Secretary General Kader Gani Chowdhury on his appointment as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).<\/p>\n

On the occasion, a reception was organised by National Press Club members Md Mosharraf Hossain and Md Nizam Uddin (Darbes Nizam) at the Zahir Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the National Press Club in the capital on Sunday (August 30).<\/p>\n

At the reception, BRJU Secretary General and Executive Editor of Dainik Sokaler Darpan Sheikh Mohammad Tajul Islam and BRJU Office Secretary Mohammad Badiur Alam Chowdhury greeted Kader Gani Chowdhury with flowers and extended their congratulations on his new appointment.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the programme, journalist leaders said Kader Gani Chowdhury has a long and distinguished career in journalism, along with considerable organisational skills and professional experience. They expressed hope that his appointment as Managing Director and Chief Editor of the country’s important state-run news agency, BSS, would play a positive role in the country’s journalism sector.<\/p>\n

The journalist leaders also expressed their expectation that BSS would play a more effective role in promoting the professional dignity, rights and welfare of journalists under the new leadership.<\/p>\n

They further hoped that the new leadership would make an important contribution to ensuring media freedom, objective news reporting and professional security for journalists in the country.
\nDuring the floral exchange, journalist leaders present at the event congratulated Kader Gani Chowdhury on assuming his new responsibility and wished him success in making the activities of BSS more dynamic, professional and modern.<\/p>\n

Among those present at the reception were National Press Club General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan; DUJ President Md Shahidul Islam; General Secretary Khurshid Alam; DUJ Joint General Secretary Didarul Alam Didar; BFUJ Vice-Presidents A.K.M. Mohsin and Modabber Hossain; BFUJ Office Secretary Md Abu Bakar; former Dhaka Reporters Unity President Morsalin Nomani; National Press Club members M Mosharraf Hossain, Md Nizam Uddin and Real Noman, along with other journalist leaders.<\/p>\n
