The release of Shyam Benegal’s ‘Mujib: Shaper of a Nation’, a biopic depicting the life and political journey of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be released in more than 200 theaters in Bangladesh tomorrow. \nHabiba Rahman, Chair of Television, Film and Photography (TFP) Department of Dhaka University said, ‘The film, starring young film stars, will deeply connect the new generation with the historical narrative depicting the life and work of the architect of independent Bangladesh.<\/span>
\nHe said that film is a powerful medium and the youth will get a chance to imagine the time and history while watching the film.<\/span>
\nCopywriter and Bangladeshi student of Film, TV and New Media Production at Mumbai University Durjoy Chakraborty said, ‘It is a very difficult task to fully portray a great personality like Bangabandhu in one film.\u00a0We are very optimistic about the film directed by Shyam Benegal and produced under the supervision of Bangabandhu’s eldest son Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.’<\/span>
\nDurjoy said, many renowned Bangladeshi and Indian artists have contributed to this film for a long time.\u00a0No other film has seen so many movie stars in one movie.<\/span>
\nHe further said, ‘So I am very interested to see the film on the first day.’<\/span>
\nSami Al Mehdi, a film activist and host of a Bangladeshi TV program on film, said, ‘Our expectations about the film are bigger than mountains.\u00a0The film portrays a political icon whose personality, philosophy and being are intertwined with our national hopes and aspirations.\u00a0Hope the talented filmmaker Shyam Benegal gets the best from the artists.’<\/span>
\nIt is very difficult to make a film about a famous political figure.\u00a0Because it requires a filmmaker to think in different dimensions and perspectives.<\/span>
\nHe also said that a thorough research and depiction of real times, history and dialogues is also very important to make all the content of the film acceptable to all quarters.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nKhandkar Rubayat Mursalin, teacher of TFP of Dhaka University while talking to BASS, described Bangabandhu and Bangladesh as interrelated and said that this message will be conveyed to the new generation through films.<\/span>
\nHe said, ‘Mujib’s biopic will certainly remain a historical document and will contribute a lot in spreading the spirit and ideals of Bangabandhu to the people, especially to the new generation.’\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>
\nGeneral Secretary of Dhaka University Cultural Society Anik Dhar said that many films have been made on the liberation war in Bangladesh, but no film has been made on Bangabandhu.<\/span>
\nHe expressed hope that the first film on the architect of Bangladesh, ‘Mujib-Ek Rati Rupkar’ will be the best work on the great leader.<\/span>
\nHe said, ‘We are hopeful that all artists from actors, directors, music directors, cinematographers and choreographers have given their best to portray the life and works of Bangabandhu and other historical details.’<\/span>
\nYouth leader and coordinator of Center for Research and Information (CRI) Tanmoy Ahmed said, ‘The biopic reflects the real history of the country and it will put an end to all the propaganda by the anti-independence forces to denigrate Bangabandhu.’<\/span>
\nThe premiere show of the biopic was held at the Bangladesh Film Archive.<\/span>
\nPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina saw it in Agargaon today.\u00a0Before watching the premiere show, Sheikh Hasina said that the nation will know many unknown facts and new chapters of history through this much awaited biopic.<\/span>
\nHe said that after the assassination of the Father of the Nation on August 15, 1975, many attempts were made to erase his name.<\/span>
\nHe also said, ‘History speaks.\u00a0Many attempts were made to distort the history of the Liberation War.\u00a0But, it has been proven that history can never be erased.’<\/span>
\nThe Bangladesh-India joint venture ‘Mujib-Making of Nation’- biopic will release across India on October 27.<\/span>
\nThe film has already received the censor certificate from the censor board in both the countries.<\/span>
\nThe film’s initial trailer was released on 19 May 2022 at the 75th Cannes Film Festival in France.<\/span>
\nBangladesh Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr.\u00a0Hasan Mahmud officially launched the final trailer of the Mujib biopic on October 1.<\/span>
\nBesides, the film premiered at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival in Canada on September 14. \u00a0<\/span>
\nBangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is played by Bangladesh artist Arifin Shubo and Nusrat Imroz Tisha plays the role of Bangabandhu’s wife Sheikh Fazilatun Nesha Mujib in the biopic.\u00a0And actress Nusrat Faria played the role of Sheikh Hasina.<\/span>
\nPopular actors Tauqeer Ahmed, Chanchal Chowdhury, Parantha Dighi and others have played various roles.<\/span>
\nThe film’s music is composed by renowned Indian music director Shantanu Maitra and Bengali dialogues are penned by Sadhana Ahmed, Gias Uddin Salim, Shihab Shaheen and Anam Biswas from Bangladesh.<\/span>
