\nFBCCI President Mahbubul Alam made this call in a courtesy meeting with Myanmar’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Aung Kyaw Moe, at the FBCCI office in Gulshan in the capital on Saturday.\u00a0FBCCI Vice President Shami Kaiser and directors were present.<\/span>
\nMahbubul Alam said in the meeting, trade between Myanmar and Bangladesh has been going on for a long time.\u00a0Once there was trade with Yangon by sea from Chittagong.\u00a0But due to several reasons, the rate of trade between the two countries has decreased slightly.\u00a0Even though there are many potential sectors of both countries, we are not able to utilize those opportunities properly.\u00a0He also commented that solving the existing problems between the two countries, including the Rohingya crisis, will benefit both countries commercially.\u00a0He urged Myanmar to take steps to solve the Rohingya problem.<\/span>
\nThe FBCCI president also said that Bangladesh has gained a great reputation worldwide in various products including ready-made garments, pharmaceutical industry, ceramics, jute, leather products.\u00a0Myanmar can import these products from Bangladesh.\u00a0Besides, Bangladesh can import various products including rice, onions, spices from Myanmar.\u00a0He also commented that Myanmar can come forward to meet the energy needs of this country.<\/span>
\nHe urged Myanmar businessmen to invest in Bangladesh’s Special Economic Zone.<\/span>
\nAmbassador Aung Q Moe said that Bangladesh and Myanmar have historically maintained friendly relations.\u00a0Myanmar was one of the 5 countries that first recognized Bangladesh in 1971.\u00a0He also said that Myanmar is interested in strengthening the commercial relations between the two countries.\u00a0He also said that the Myanmar government is working with Bangladesh to solve the Rohingya problem.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
