\nThe minister said, we have to work together to achieve the sustainable development goals under the leadership of the Prime Minister.\u00a0Through research activities, researchers are playing a supportive role in advancing the government’s initiatives to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 3 as well as Vision 2041.\u00a0He commented that public health research continues to make a valuable contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.\u00a0He believes that Arc Foundation is helping the government to adopt timely policies and achieve sustainable development goals by conducting public health research.\u00a0<\/span>
\nOn the occasion, the Planning Minister unveiled the new logo of Arc Foundation and celebrated the organization’s 10th anniversary by cutting a cake.<\/span>
\nEconomist Professor Dr. Arc Foundation’s executive director in the welcome speech.\u00a0Rumana Haque said, as a research-based private institution, Arc Foundation is conducting various research programs on public health including primary health care, urban health system development, control of infectious and non-infectious diseases, financial management for public health development, tobacco control, advocacy for determining public health policies, and raising public awareness.\u00a0Through this we have tried to identify the areas of public health development as well as provide contemporary and innovative solutions.\u00a0He expressed his gratitude to those concerned for their love and support during the 10-year journey of Arc Foundation.<\/span>
\nDiabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS) President National Professor AK Azad Khan, Senior Director of Infectious Diseases Department of ICDDRB Dr.\u00a0Ferdowsi Qadri, Vice-Chancellor of Sylhet Medical University.\u00a0AHM Enayet Hussain and others spoke.<\/span>
\nSpeakers at the event said that the need for research-based knowledge to adopt effective and useful policies is undeniable, so the government should be more focused on supporting the necessary research and allocate sufficient budget for research.<\/span>
\nA policy dialogue on addressing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) was held on the occasion to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.\u00a0National Tobacco Control Cell (NTCC) Coordinator Hossain Ali Khondkar presided.\u00a0The speaker in this session was the line director of Noncommunicable Disease Control of the Department of Health.\u00a0Robed Amin, Executive Director of Center for Disability in Development, AHM Noman Khan, Health Consultant of Dhaka British High Commission.\u00a0Rashid Zaman and reproductive health epidemiologist at John Hopkins University.\u00a0Halida Hanun Akhtar.<\/span>
\nAs a panelist in the policy dialogue, the Additional Director General of the Department of Health, Professor Dr.\u00a0Ahmadul Kabir and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance.\u00a0Abdur Rahman Khan.\u00a0Officials of various government institutions, public health experts, tobacco control experts and journalists were present on the occasion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
