\nEarlier, a five-member delegation of the International Labor Organization (ILO) held a meeting with the law minister.\u00a0The delegation was led by ILO Country Director Tumo Potiinen.<\/span>
\nAt the end of the meeting, in response to a question from journalists about the government during the election, the law minister said that the prime minister will decide how many ministers he needs during the election.\u00a0If he needs all, then all will be, and if he thinks small, can.\u00a0It’s his decision.\u00a0The Constitution gave him that power.<\/span>
\nWhen asked what issues can be discussed in this month’s parliament session, the law minister said, everything can be discussed besides passing the law.<\/span>
\nIn a meeting with the delegation of the International Labor Organization, the draft of the Bangladesh Labor (Amendment) Act-2023, which was recently passed by the Cabinet, was discussed.\u00a0Some issues have been resolved.\u00a0Those that need to be explained are given.\u00a0And some things need to be discussed in detail.\u00a0On October 22, there will be another meeting in the Law Ministry.<\/span>
\nAnisul Haque said that previously there was a rule to form a trade union if there were 30 percent workers in the group of companies.\u00a0But in the amendment act it has been reduced to 20 percent.<\/span>
\nThe law minister said, we had already committed to the ILO, that this percentage rate will be reduced gradually.\u00a0Previously, if more than 3,000 workers were needed to run a company, 20 percent of the workers were required to agree to form a trade union.\u00a0But we have also reduced that to 15 percent.\u00a0Besides, some minor issues were discussed.\u00a0Essentially they emphasized the power of workers to strike and the strengthening of labor courts.\u00a0They are happy with most of our amendments.\u00a0However, in some cases they have suggested following international standards – or ILO standards.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
