\nMomen, who is now in Jeddah to attend an open extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the ongoing Israeli atrocities in Gaza, urged the OIC to take the lead in organizing a special UNGA meeting on the matter.<\/span>
\n“We strongly condemn the barbaric bombing of a hospital in Gaza, it is completely unacceptable,” he said.<\/span>
\nMomen also supported a Gambian proposal to convene an international peace conference on the matter.<\/span>
\n“We condemn the Security Council’s killing of UN and other aid workers, health workers and journalists in Gaza and call on Israel to be held accountable for its war crimes and disregard for international humanitarian and human rights law,” Momen said.<\/span>
\nAccording to the OIC, at the urgently called special OIC meeting, the foreign ministers of the member states discussed the “aggression against the Gaza Strip and the deteriorating humanitarian situation – which threatens the security of civilians and threatens regional stability”.\u00a0Saudi Arabia is the current chairman of the OIC.<\/span>
\nThe foreign minister said that Bangladesh strongly condemns the Israeli aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories, which has resulted in the loss of more than 3,000 lives, one-third of whom are women and children.<\/span>
\n“We strongly condemn the barbaric bombing of Gaza hospitals which is completely unacceptable,” he said.<\/span>
\nThe foreign minister said Israel’s ongoing disproportionate war on civilians in Gaza is not only disproportionate, it violates all basic principles of human rights and humanitarian law and “complicitly punishes all Palestinians”.<\/span>
\nHe said, “We therefore call for an urgent ceasefire through dialogue between all parties concerned in Gaza.”<\/span>
\nThe foreign minister said the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached an all-time low due to Israel’s denial of humanitarian access and indiscriminate attacks on civilian infrastructure.<\/span>
\n“We regret that the Security Council failed to adopt a resolution put forward by the Russian Federation on October 16 to ensure humanitarian assistance to Gaza,” he added.\u00a0He reiterated the call for immediate humanitarian assistance for the affected population.<\/span>
\nThe foreign minister said that Dhaka has unequivocally rejected Israel’s call to forcibly evict Palestinians from their own homeland.\u00a0This will further deteriorate the humanitarian situation in the entire region and is tantamount to ethnic cleansing.<\/span>
\nHe said, no one wins by killing innocent people and murderers definitely lose in people’s hearts and minds.<\/span>
\nHe said Bangladesh called upon the international community to resolve the root causes of the conflict.<\/span>
\nMomen said, Dhaka believes that a permanent solution to this recurring problem is possible only by realizing the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the right to an independent and sovereign state.<\/span>
\nHe said, Dhaka believes that the international community should come together to realize this solution.<\/span>
\nThe Foreign Minister of Bangladesh urged the entire Muslim Ummah to stand and work unitedly to stop the genocide and ensure lasting peace in Palestine.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
