State Minister for Expatriates Welfare<\/p>\n
and Overseas Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury today said the government
\nhas an action plan to send 60 lakh workers abroad in next five years.<\/p>\n
“The government has a action plan to send 60 lakh workers in different
\nforeign countries in the next five years”, said the state minister while
\nresponding to a query raised by treasury bench lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury
\nof Bhola-3 at the question-answer session at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here.<\/p>\n
To send workers abroad is an ongoing process, he told the parliament chaired
\nby Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.<\/p>\n
After the independence, opportunities of migration and overseas employment
\nhave been created for the Bangladeshi citizens due to appropriate, time
\nbefitting and farsighted vision of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
\nMujibur Rahman.<\/p>\n
Overseas employment starts its journey through sending 6,087 workers abroad.
\nOverseas employment is rising day to day due to government’s appropriate
\nsteps.<\/p>\n
In 2022, 11,35,873 workers left the country for overseas employment which was
\nover 13 lakh in 2023.<\/p>\n
Sending of overseas workers has started again to United Arab Emirates (UAE),
\nMaldives and Malaysia , said state minister, adding a memorandum of
\nunderstating (MoU) has been signed with 17 foreign countries for sending
\nmanpower from Bangladesh, the state minister said while responding to another
\nquestion brought by Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan MP of Lakhipur-2.<\/p>\n
Even the government has taken a project for employing one lakh drivers in
