The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs
\n(CCEA) has approved a proposal in principle for importing some 50,000 metric tons
\nof onion from National Cooperative Exports Limited of India.<\/p>\n
The approval came from the sixth meeting of the CCEA in this year held at the
\nCabinet Division Conference Room of Bangladesh Secretariat here today with
\nFinance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali in the chair.<\/p>\n
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Division Secretary
\n(Coordination and Reforms) Md Mahmudul Hossain Khan said that the day’s
\nmeeting approved three proposals in principle.<\/p>\n
He said the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) would import
\nsuch quantity of onion from India considering the increasing demand of such
\nessential item.<\/p>\n
Mahmudul said, in response to a proposal from the Energy and Mineral
\nResources Division, the CCEA meeting approved a proposal in principle for
\nprocuring LNG under short-term process from Gunvor Singapore Pte Ltd.

Besides, following another proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources
\nDivision, the meeting was apprised about signing of the Terminal Use
\nAgreement (TUA) and Implementation Agreement (IA) with Summit LNG Terminal II
\nCo Ltd instead of Summit Oil and Shipping Co Ltd (SOSCL) for setting up a 600
\nMMCFD capacity re-pacification third FSRU at Moheshkhali in Cox’s Bazaar
