Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin
\nChaudhury today returned home after attending the 148th Assembly of Inter-
\nParliamentary Union (IPU) held in Geneva of Switzerland from March 23-27.<\/p>\n
On the first day of the IPU Assembly, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury
\npresided over a meeting of the Asia-Pacific Group at the International
\nConference Center in Geneva, according to a parliament secretariat release
\nhere today.<\/p>\n
She also participated in a bilateral meeting on the invitation of IPU’s
\nSecretary General Martin Chungong during this time and discussed on various
\nbilateral issues including IPU conference held in Bangladesh and World
\nSpeakers’ Summit.<\/p>\n
Dr Shirin Sharmin also participated in 213rd session of the IPU governing
\ncouncil along with parliamentary representatives group and took part in the
\ndiscussion titled “Parliamentary Diplomacy : Building Bridges for Peace and
\nUnderstanding”.<\/p>\n
In addition to this, the Speaker gave address as a panel speaker on the
\nProtection of Minority Rights event.<\/p>\n
She also delivered her address on the concluding session of the governing
\ncouncil of the 148th IPU Assembly.<\/p>\n
Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has got an opportunity to become a Chairman of
