Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road
\nTransport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the country has
\nwitnessed unprecedented development in the last 15 years because of the
\nstability of the government.<\/p>\n
“As the country’s democracy remains stable, it has made such development,” he
\ntold a leaflet distribution ceremony at AL’s Bangabandhu Avenue central
\noffice in the capital under the arrangement of the party’s publicity and
\npublications affairs sub-committee.<\/p>\n
Noting that AL never believes in politics of killing, Quader said when BNP
\nwas in power, it had carried out militant activities in broad daylight.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, after coming to power, AL stopped the politics of killing
\nin the country and established a constitutional government, he said, adding:
\n“The party stopped the way of seizing state power through killing.”<\/p>\n
The AL general secretary said anti-state evil forces are hatching conspiracy
\nconstantly and the conspirators are making anti-polls activities to make the
\npeople deprived of their voting rights.<\/p>\n
He urged all to build united resistance against the evil forces who are
\nhatching conspiracy against democracy, peace, development and election.<\/p>\n
“Our leader Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the pro-liberation and
\nprogressive forces to unitedly resist the evil forces which are against the
\ncountry’s independence and sovereignty,” he said.<\/p>\n
The killing of democracy had started in the country through the assassination
\nof Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Mostaq-Zia led
\nthe conspiracy, he said.<\/p>\n
Quader said anti-Bangladesh conspiracy is being hatched and propaganda is
\nbeing spread both at home and abroad with a view to ousting the government.<\/p>\n
Local and foreign conspirators are hatching plots against election and
\ndemocracy, he said.<\/p>\n
The Road Transport and Bridges Minister said AL is the only party which
\nformed an independent and strong Election Commission (EC).<\/p>\n
During the tenure of Begum Khaleda Zia, fake elections were held with a fake
\nlist of voters, he said.<\/p>\n
“Ahead of the upazila elections, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged all
\nvoters to exercise their constitutional rights through casting votes in the
\npolls,” Quader said, adding that AL always believes that people are the
\nsource of all strength.<\/p>\n
AL Presidium Members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Kazi Zafarullah and Dr Abdur
\nRazzaque, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organizing Secretary
\nBM Mozammel Haque, Publicity and Publications Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap
\nand Deputy Publicity and Publications Secretary Syed Abdul Awal Shamim were
