{"id":7453,"date":"2024-04-27T15:16:06","date_gmt":"2024-04-27T11:46:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyenglishtimes.com\/?p=7453"},"modified":"2024-04-27T15:16:06","modified_gmt":"2024-04-27T11:46:06","slug":"sheikh-jamals-71st-birthday-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyenglishtimes.com\/?p=7453","title":{"rendered":"Sheikh Jamal&#8217;s 71st birthday tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"headline_content_block post_template-0\">\n<div class=\"headline_section mb-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"dtl_part\" class=\"dtl_section\">\n<p>The 71st birthday of heroic freedom fighter<br \/>\nSheikh Jamal, second son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur<br \/>\nRahman, will be observed tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Born on April 28 in 1954 at Tungipara in Gopalganj, Sheikh Jamal did his<br \/>\nmatriculation from Dhaka Residential Model College and intermediate from<br \/>\nDhaka College.<\/p>\n<p>He was also under house arrest along with his other family members during the<br \/>\ngreat Liberation War in 1971. Later, Sheikh Jamal fled from their Dhanmondi<br \/>\nresidence and joined the Liberation War.<\/p>\n<p>He reached Agartala, India after a very risky journey from Dhanmondi where he<br \/>\njoined the Mujib Bahini (Bangladesh Liberation Forces, BLF). After receiving<br \/>\ntraining, he fought from the front line under Sector-9 during the Liberation<br \/>\nWar.<\/p>\n<p>Jamal travelled to Yugoslavia for military training under the auspices of the<br \/>\nYugoslav People&#8217;s Army in 1974.<\/p>\n<p>He joined the first long course of Bangladesh Army as a Commissioned Officer.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, he received training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in<br \/>\nthe United Kingdom (UK).<\/p>\n<p>After returning from there, he was promoted to the rank of Second Lieutenant<br \/>\nin the Second East Bengal Regiment in Dhaka.<\/p>\n<p>During his short tenure in the Second East Bengal Regiment, he left an<br \/>\nimpression of extraordinary professionalism and sincerity among the officers<br \/>\nand soldiers.<\/p>\n<p>He was adroit at training grounds, tactics classes and Obstacle crossings. He<br \/>\nalso trained the members of the Battalion&#8217;s Boxing Team.<\/p>\n<p>Jamal was also a noted sportsman. He was also fond of music and used to play<br \/>\nguitar.<\/p>\n<p>On August 15 in 1975, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country&#8217;s<br \/>\narchitect, with most of his family members including Sheikh Jamal, was<br \/>\nassassinated by a group of disgruntled army officers.<\/p>\n<p>Marking the birthday of Shaheed Sheikh Jamal, rich tributes will be paid to<br \/>\nhim by placing wreaths at his grave at Banani Graveyard at 9am tomorrow at<br \/>\nthe initiative of Awami League (AL).<\/p>\n<p>A special munajat will also be offered there seeking eternal peace of his<br \/>\ndeparted soul.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 71st birthday of heroic freedom fighter Sheikh Jamal, second son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be observed tomorrow.
