With a view to ensuring a hassle-free
\njourney for holidaymakers, the movement of all types of bulkheads
\nwill be suspended for 11 days, from June 13 to 23, before and after
\nthe upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.<\/p>\n
The decision was taken in a meeting held at the Ministry of Shipping
\nhere today to ensure smooth movement of ferries, steamers,
\nlaunches, and the safety of passengers during Eid, according to a
\npress release.<\/p>\n
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury presided
\nover the meeting, the press release added.<\/p>\n
Like previous times, the number of ferries at Kazirhat, Paturiaghat,
\nand launches on some routes will increase, the meeting decided.<\/p>\n
Besides, ferries carrying normal trucks and covered vans will be
\nhalted for three days before and after Eid (a total of seven days,
\nincluding Eid day).<\/p>\n
However, trucks carrying animals and perishable goods will be
\nallowed on ferries during the 7-day ban.<\/p>\n
It was said in the meeting that the weather is likely to be risky
\nduring Eid.<\/p>\n
All are asked to follow weather-related instructions properly while
