Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP is spreading misleading information over Bangladesh-India Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on connectivity as they are unable to understand the issue of regional connectivity.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe operation of trains between Bangladesh and Bhutan via India will benefit our \u00a0 \u00a0people . . . \u00a0but they (BNP) are now doing politics of spreading misleading information against the government (over it),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Hasan, also Awami League (AL) joint general secretary, said this while addressing a discussion titled \u2018Sheikh Hasina\u2019s balanced foreign policy and Bangladesh\u2019s internal development\u2019 organized by the Weekly Gana Bangla and Swadhinata Parishad at Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here.<\/p>\n
Noting that Bangladesh has signed several MoUs with India to enhance the connectivity, he said connectivity will also be established with Nepal.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are working to expand the regional connectivity to other countries in the South Asia,\u201d the foreign minister said.<\/p>\n
Criticizing BNP leaders\u2019 misleading remarks over Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina\u2019s recent visit to India, Hasan said their statements have failed to draw public attention.<\/p>\n
Failing to wage movements with its own capacity, he said, BNP has turned into a parasite party by depending on others\u2019 movements on different issues, including universal pension scheme and quota system in government jobs.<\/p>\n
About Bangladesh foreign policy, Hasan said Bangabandhu\u2019s worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is running the country following Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman\u2019s foreign policy of \u2018Friendship to all, malice to none\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have good relations with Russia, China and India while India is our trusted friend. India’s cooperation during our Liberation War in 1971 will remain written in golden letters in the history,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the country\u2019s development and progress, the foreign minister said many countries are now investing in Bangladesh witnessing the country\u2019s unprecedented development.<\/p>\n
Former Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University (JnU) Dr Mizanur Rahman and Awami League Jatiya Committee Member Advocate Balaram Podder addressed the discussion as special guests while former acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Sofiqul Bahar Majumder Tipu and AL Industries and Commerce affairs Sub-committee member Lion Mosiur Ahmed, also spoke at the event, among others.<\/p>\n
