ET Desk: Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC’s special aptitude assessment test will be held on Saturday (September 27, Saturday). About 5,500 officers of the bank are expected to participate in the much-discussed test. However, a group of officers and employees have already announced to boycott the test.
However, Bangladesh Bank says that there is no obstacle to taking the Islamic Bank Special Qualification Assessment Test.
The bank’s human resources department had set the exam date for August 29 on August 14. Later, when the bank’s junior officer Md. Hanif filed a writ petition in the High Court on August 27, the court ordered Bangladesh Bank to settle the matter.
Bangladesh Bank said on September 25 that it is the sole discretion of Islami Bank to conduct the special competency assessment test or not. With this decision, there is no further obstacle in organizing the test.
Meanwhile, Islami Bank officials and employees formed a human chain in front of the Chittagong Press Club on Friday 26 sep, announcing a boycott of the exam.
The speakers alleged that the exam is being organized as part of a plan to eliminate about 5,500 officials and employees.
They say that if you miss the exam, you will not be able to keep your job and there will be no opportunity for career advancement – this has been mentioned in the notice, creating fear.
