IU Forms Fact-Finding Committee Over Controversial appointment

Islamic University (IU) authority has formed a fact-finding committee to find out allegations over controversial appointment of Firoza Naznin as a lecturer in the department of ICT.

The decision was announced through an office order issued by the university’s Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. A.K.M. Matinur Rahman on Wednesday.

Remarking committee to make out allegations raised media reports asking the recruitment process, confirmed by Acting Registrar Professor Dr. Monjurul Haque.

Professor Dr. Rokshana Begum Mili, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, has been appointed convener of this committee, while Deputy Registrar (academic) Shahidul Islam will serve as member secretary. Professor Dr. Sekandar Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Theology and a member of the university Syndicate, has been included as a member.

According to university sources, allegations of nepotism and irregularities in the recruitment process were widely reported vai media, while Firoza Naznin, wife of ICT Department Professor Dr. Zahidul Islam, was recommended for appointment as a lecturer in the ICT department at the university’s 274th Syndicate meeting.

Convenor Professor Dr. Rokshana Mili said, We received the official letter and would examine the allegations raised vai media.We would begin its formal after consulting the concerned individuals of this committee.
