24-hour ultimatum to students demanding resignation of SCC mayor

ET Desk: Sylhet students of anti-discrimination movement have given a 24-hour time limit to the mayor of Sylhet City Corporation, Awami League leader Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, chief executive officer, all corrupt officials-employees and councilors. They said that if everyone including the mayor does not resign by this time, they will surround the city hall after noon on Thursday (August 15).

The Sylhet coordinators of the anti-discrimination movement gave such an ultimatum in a press conference organized in an elite restaurant in East Zindabazar of Sylhet metropolis on Wednesday (August 14) afternoon.

They said – we revolutionized for more than a month and the dictatorial government fell in 15 years. Now we are running a movement to make every sector free from corruption. So we don’t want to see all the farcical elections that have taken place under dictatorship and those who have won various seats in these elections. Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer, all corrupt officials-employees and councilors have been given a 24-hour time limit.

If they do not resign by Thursday afternoon, then we will surround the city hall and hold a sit-in program until they resign.

Central co-coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement and chief coordinator of Sylhet Shabichatra Asadullah Al Ghalib, one of the coordinators of Sylhet Shabichatra Delwar Hossain Shishir, Sylhet co-coordinator Shabichatra Faisal Hossain, Shabi coordinator Hafizur Rahman and Zahirul Islam spoke in the press conference.
