The country’s dengue situation has been worsening day by day as 10 patients have died and 1757 others have been hospitalised in the last 24 hours till Friday morning.The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) says 10 people have died of dengue and 892 patients were hospitalised in the capital and 865 were admitted to hospitals outside the capital during the period.A total of 9,026 patients are now undergoing treatment throughout the country. Of them, 4,568 are receiving treatment in hospitals in Dhaka city.Some 9641 people were diagnosed with the disease and 42 died in three days of the current month while 43,854 were hospitalised and 204 died last month, said the DGHS.Earlier, 5,956 cases were reported and 34 died in June while 1036 cases and two deaths were recorded in May, 143 cases and two deaths in April, 111 cases in March, 166 cases and three deaths in February and 566 cases and six deaths were logged in January this year.The DGHS report said 61,473 patients have been detected and 293 died across the country this year.Of the total dengue patients, 33,454 cases have been reported in the capital and 28019 outside the Dhaka.Of the total deaths, 234 were reported in the capital while 59 outside Dhaka city.According to the DGHS, although the rate of dengue infection remains stable in Dhaka cities it keeps rising outside the capital but hospitals in the capital already have been overwhelmed with dengue patients.The public hospitals have already increased the number of beds in the capital and outside.
