Desk Report: Jahangir Alam has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Before this he was working as the Secretary of Ministry of Social Welfare.

This information was informed in a notification signed by Shamsul Arefin, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday (October 5). Jahangir Alam was promoted to the post of Secretary on 18 May 2022 and joined the Ministry of Social Welfare on 19 May. He is the outgoing secretary of the of Health Services Division. Anwar Hossain replaced Howladar.

It is reported that Jahangir Alam joined government service on April 1, 1993 as a member of BCS XI batch administration cadre. During his career, he served as assistant commissioner, assistant commissioner (land), upazila executive officer in field administration. He served as Senior Assistant Secretary/Deputy Secretary in Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, Local Government Division.

Jahangir Alam was born on October 17, 1966 in Pirganj Upazila of Rangpur District. He received BSc Agriculture (Hons) from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh and MS in Agriculture Forestry and Environment from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur.
