Hafizur, a 22-year-old college student, said, “On August 5, when the Student League attacked me with a chopper at Alu Patti, I stopped it with my left hand, my wrist was cut and my arm vein was severed. The doctor said that I will be operated on next Thursday.’
He also said ‘On August 5 I was admitted to the hospital and sometimes they gave me a discount, then when I saw the doctor at the Islami Hospital, they demanded Tk 2 lakh for the operation. In such a situation, I was re-admitted to the Rajshahi Medical College and I was getting treatment here for free.’
Ismail Hossain, a postgraduate student of IU, said, “On August 4, the police force fired tear gas and bullets sporadically at the police station intersection in Kushtia. As a result, some bullets pierced my skull. Someone was taken to Kushtia Medical Center at two o’clock and sent home with the wrong treatment. Later, when I felt a pain in my head, I went to the medical center and a bullet was removed from my head. I came to Rajshahi on the 10th and I was admitted to the Rajshahi Medical College on the 10th and I am under treatment here for free.”
Shakib, a student of class 9 under treatment, said, “When brickbats were thrown sporadically in the procession, I tore the vein in my leg while running away. I was admitted to the medical center on August 5 and went home on the 6th. If the doctor resorted to cutting the stitches, he said that he would not send me to Dhaka. The family is worried about the cost of treatment in Dhaka.
Jasim, a businessman undergoing treatment, said, “When thousands of people gathered on August 5 to destroy the portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Gazipur, the Ansar forces fired indiscriminately, and in such a situation, I was shot four times in the hand and one in the cheek. Three places in the hand were smuggled out and one bullet was taken out. Three bullets are still in the hand. It is visible in the X-ray footage. My left hand is useless because of the bullet wound. Even though I am being given free treatment, I am worried about my family’s financial condition.”
Wasim, who is under treatment, said, “During the August 5 movement in Rajshahi’s Alu Patti, a bullet suddenly hit my lower abdomen and it exploded. RMC has undergone multiple surgeries. I have been admitted to RMC since August 5. Physically I am still bedridden. I can’t move. ”

Currently, 6 patients are under treatment in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. All of them are in stable condition.’
