ET Desk:
Left-arm spinner Nahida Akter became the first
Bangladeshi female bowler to take 100 wickets in the T20 format after picking
up one wicket against Scotland in the side’s T20 World Cup opener today at
Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE.
She just conceded 19 runs in her four overs as Bangladesh registered a 16-run
victory to end their 10 years wait in the marquee tournament.
Nahida needed just one wicket to reach the magical figure but things looked
gloomy for her when she failed to take a wicket in her first three overs.
However in her last over, she got rid of Katherine Fraser to achieve the
milestone.
Nahida made her debut against Pakistan in 2015, at the age of just 15. She
reached 50 wickets milestone in 41 matches and completed 100-wicket haul in
88 matches with the average of 16.82 and economy rate of 5.72. She claimed
five wickets twice in an innings.
