Govt to reinforce feeding programme at primary schools to check dropout: Dr. Bidhan

ET Desk: Adviser for Primary and Mass Education Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder today said the feeding programme would be reinforced in   primary schools in phases to check the dropout of the students.

“Schools should be built as attractive ones as the students can take lessons with pleasure. Feeding programme would be introduced in the primary level gradually,” he said.

He was addressing a programme as the chief guest marking release of a research study titled “Dissemination of the effectiveness study of the revised diploma in primary education” organized by Primary Education Academy and European Union at a city hotel.

Mentioning that primary and mass education ministry is the main resource to make primary education compulsory and universal the adviser said “Teachers at the primary level have been working to build up the students as worthy citizens.”

The adviser stressed the need for building the citizens as worthy for the society, saying, “It is impossible to do without education.”

Primary and Mass Education Secretary Farid Ahmed, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Dr Md Abdul Hakim, EU Head of Development Cooperation Michal Krejza spoke on the occasion with  National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) Farid Ahmed in the chair.

EU Consultant Deborah Wyburn, NAPE assistant experts Mahbubur Rahman and ATM Rafez presented the study papers.
