BRJA condemns and protests the murder of journalist Tuhi

ET Desk : Journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin (38) was hacked to death by terrorists in Gazipur.

The journalist was sitting at a tea shop at the time of the incident. The Bangladesh Mofussil Journalists Association (BRJA) has strongly condemned and protested the incident.

The organization’s chairman and secretary general protested in a joint statement on Friday (August 8).

It is learnt that the incident took place in front of the Mosque Market at the busiest Chandana intersection in Gazipur city at around 8pm on Thursday (August 7). The deceased journalist, Asaduzzaman Tuhin, was a Gazipur staff reporter for the  newspaper Dainik Pratidiner Kagoj.

Regarding this incident, BRJA Chairman Shakhawat Ibn Moin Uddin Chowdhury said, “The journalist was killed in a terrorist attack in the dark of night. We strongly condemn and protest this incident.”

Stating that such incidents are not new to the country, the journalist leader said, “We are witnessing repetition of such incidents because the accused are not given proper justice. We want freedom from this culture of impunity. We want safety for the lives of media workers.”

Sheikh Mohammad Tajul Islam, Secretary General of the organization, said, “We are concerned about the attacks and murders of journalists. Therefore, we are demanding a fair trial in this incident as soon as possible. We do not want to see the party identity of the killers, we want a speedy trial of the murder.”

Tuhin does not want to hear any drama about the killers. He demanded that the criminals be tried in a speedy trial tribunal.
