ET Desk : The Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, has stated, ‘Those whose 39 MP candidates are loan defaulters (bank robbers) will not be able to make the country corruption-free.’ He added that it does not befit such a party to even speak about building a corruption-free nation. A country cannot be freed from thieves and robbers by bringing them into Parliament. Corruption and extortion cannot be stopped by those who are themselves corrupt and extortionists.”
He made these remarks while addressing the Jamaat-e-Islami election rally in Dhaka-6 constituency on Sunday afternoon (January 25).
During this, he called on the countrymen to ensure that the 11-party unity coalition wins and that Bangladesh is free from extortionists.
