Staff Correspondent: The Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust on Sunday launched a two-day seminar and training workshop with a discussion focusing on “Healthy Culture, Entertainment Practices, and the Development of Democratic Culture Based on National Values.”
The inaugural session was held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Trust’s Board Room in Dhaka.
President of the National Press Club, poet Hasan Hafiz, addressed the workshop as a keynote discussant. He underscored the importance of journalists in promoting healthy cultural values, responsible journalism, and strengthening a democratic culture rooted in national identity. He said the media has a crucial role in fostering social harmony, preserving cultural heritage, and encouraging ethical public discourse.
The keynote paper was presented by Mohammad Abdul Bachir, Managing Director of the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust. His presentation highlighted the significance of healthy cultural practices, the positive influence of constructive entertainment, and the role of journalists in upholding democratic values, professionalism, and national consciousness.
The session was moderated by A.B.M. Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Director (Administration and Finance) of the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust.
Officials and employees of the Trust attended the workshop. According to the organizers, the two-day programme will continue with discussions and training sessions on several key issues, including media freedom, professional ethics, accountability, and the evolving challenges facing journalism in Bangladesh.
