MoU Signed Between Manarat University and Markfield Institute, UK

ET Desk: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Manarat International University (MIU) and the Markfield Institute of Higher Education (MIHE) in the United Kingdom, with the aim of expanding international education, research, and academic collaboration.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Sunday, June 28, at the Vice-Chancellor’s office on the university’s Gulshan campus. Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rob, Vice-Chancellor of Manarat International University, signed on behalf of the university, while Rector Dr. Zahid Parvez signed on behalf of MIHE.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the two institutions will cooperate on various academic activities, including higher education, research, faculty and student exchanges, faculty skill development, international student admissions, and the organization of joint seminars, workshops, and international conferences. Furthermore, both institutions will collaborate on joint research, the pursuit of knowledge, and the achievement of academic excellence in the fields of Islamic Studies, Islamic Finance, and related disciplines.

Under the agreement, eligible students nominated by MIU will have the opportunity to enroll in UK-recognized degree programs at MIHE, subject to meeting the prescribed academic qualifications and English language proficiency requirements. Additionally, academic exchange programs involving faculty, students, and post-doctoral researchers will be conducted.

This five-year Memorandum of Understanding is renewable. It is expected to foster a strong, long-term partnership between the two institutions in the areas of international-standard education, research, and academic collaboration.

Also present on the occasion were Professor Md. Mahbub Alam, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics; Dr. Abu Ayyub Md. Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities; Registrar A. H. M. Abu Sayeed; Dr. Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Director of the Centre for General Education; Associate Professor Dr. Sabiha Sultana; Dr. Taslima Julia, a faculty member and researcher in the Department of Islamic Banking and Finance; and Saifuddin Ahmad, a UK-based human rights activist of Bangladeshi origin, along with other senior university officials.
