Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said it has again been proved internationally that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is a terrorist organisation. The minister exchanged views with journalists after visiting the project site of Bangladesh Television Centre in Rangpur on Tuesday noon. Dr Hasan Mahmud, also Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary, made the remarks in reply to a question of a journalist that a court in Canada has termed the BNP as a terrorist organisation for the fifth time.The information minister said, “Earlier when some BNP politicians sought political asylum in Canada then a court of the country (Canada) in a judgment termed the BNP as a terrorist organisation. And they (BNP) are trying to oust the democratically elected government forcibly. The orgnaisation (BNP) is involved in terrorist acts and they (BNP) are setting vehicles on fire and burning people. Again, some days ago, another politician of the BNP sought political shelter in Canada and the Federal court in Canada has given the same judgment saying that the BNP is a terrorist organaistion. Therefore, no political asylum should be issued for them (BNP politicians). And accordingly, the court in Canada rejected the petition that sought political asylum.”
