A court here today landed three criminals of a family into jail after cancelling their bail petitions in a case of torturing of women football players in Khulna.
The attackers are-Salahuddin Khan, his wife Ranji Begum and daughter Nupur of Tetulia village under Jalma Union of Batiaghata upazila.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Khulna Md Hadiuzzaman cancelled their bail petitions and asked the police to arrest them and produce before the court.
Later, Police held them from their residence and produced before the court. The court ordered to send them to jail, saying investigation report submitted by police against a general diary (GD) of woman footballer Sadia Nasrin before the court was true.
In the GD, the complainant alleged that the attackers threatened the women footballers to face in dire consequences asking to withdraw their allegations filed by Saidia with Batighata Police Station as early as soon. The women footballers would be roasted by acid, if they don’t withdraw the case, Advocate Monjilur Rahman, lawyer of the complainant confirm to BSS.
Earlier, the complainant’s lawyer filed a petition requesting to arrest the attackers and send them to jail after cancelling their bail prayers as police submitted the investigation report of the GD filed by Sadia before the court.
Quoting the observation by the Judge, the complainant lawyer said, the attackers have been violating all conditions of bail when they were out of the jail.
To ensure safety and security of the lives of four women footballers, the court cancelled the bail of the attackers, he added.
On July 29, four women footballers of Tetultala village were attacked by some local miscreants. They allegedly humiliated and tortured them from 8.00pm to 10.00pm on that day.
On information, officials of Super Queen Football Academy rescued the victims Sadia Nasrin, Mongoli Bagchi, Hazera Khatun and Jui Mondal and rushed them to local health complex for treatment.
On July 30, Sadia Nasrin, one of the victims, filed a case with Batiaghata Police Station accusing Nurul Alam Khan, his wife Ronji Begum and their daughter and son Nupur Khatun and Salauddin Khan.
Police arrested Nur Khan on July 31 while the remained three criminals got bail from the court.
On August 1, Saidia lodged a general diary with Batiaghata Police Station narrating that the three attackers threatened her to withdraw the case, she and her accomplices would be roasted by acid if she would not meet their demand.
