PMO hosts discussion, doa mahfil on National Mourning Day

Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) today hosted a discussion and doa mahfil marking the National Mourning Day and 48th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bangalee of all times.

A discussion was held there with PM’s Principal Secretary Mohammad Tofazzal Hossain Mia in the chair.

Prime Minister’s Economic Affairs Advisor Dr Mashiur Rahman, PM’s Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Advisor Taufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, PM’s Private Industry and Investment Advisor Salman Fazlur Rahman, PMO Secretary Mohammad Salah Uddin and Director General of Special Security Force (SSF) Major General Md Mojibur Rahman, among others, spoke.

PMO’s Director General (Administration) Mohammad Ahsan Kibria Siddiqui conducted the discussion on the life and works of the Father of the Nation.

After the discussion, a special munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and other family members, who embraced martyrdom on the fateful night of August 15 in 1975.

Doa was also offered seeking peace and prosperity of the country as well as the world and the Muslim Ummah.

Hafez Maulana Mufti Mohammad Mizanur Rahman conducted the milad and doa mahfil.

Earlier, the participants paid their rich tributes to the Father of the Nation and his martyrs’ family members. They recalled the outstanding contribution of Bangabandhu to country’s socioeconomic and political development.

Mashiur Rahman highlighted his long-time working experience with Bangabandhu and said the Father of the Nation was a great personality with great, generous and unfailing human qualities.

“Bangabandhu showed due respect to the people from the bottom of his heart,” Dr Rahman added.

Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, urged the government officials to work with more dedication to sustain the development and progress of Bangladesh under the uncompromising leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He highlighted different sorrows and joys of Bangabandhu and his middle-class family life, specially some memories of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Salman Fazlur Rahman mentioned the hospitability of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, saying Bangamata provided her utmost support to the party while Bangabandhu was in jail.

The precaution of Father of the Nation in running the coutry, especially managing the foreign trade with the empty state treasury.

Mohammad Tofazzel Hossain Miah said it is not true that the Father of the Nation pardoned the Razakears. “Bangabandhu made tribunals to bring those who committed murder, violation (rape), arson and inhumane acts to justice,” he added.

Referring to the contribution of Bangabandhu to the implementation of development activities, Mohammad Salah Uddin said during his three and a half years of tenure in power, Bangabandhu had done tremendous progress in different fields, including economy, agriculture, poverty alleviation, infrastructure, education, women and child development.

Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, PM’s Military Secretary Major General Kabir Ahmed, heads of various affiliated offices at the PMO, director generals and officers & employees of various wings joined the discussion, said a release.
