No scope of revoking cases filed under DSA: Anisul

Staff correspondent :

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said there is no scope of revoking cases filed under Digital Security Act (DSA) and there is no question of providing compensation in this regard.

“According to the Article 35 of the constitution, ‘No person shall be convicted of any offence except for violation of a law in force at the time of the commission of the act charged as an offence, nor be subjected to a penalty greater than, or different from, that which might have been inflicted under the law in force at the time of the commission of the offence.” he said.

The law minister said this while replying to a tabled-question from Gonoforum lawmaker Mukabbir Khan in the parliament.

Anisul Huq, an eminent jurist himself, said as per the provision relating to revocation and custody in the Cyber Security Act, ‘if cases, proceedings or appeals filed under Digital Security Act remains pending, it would continue in such a way that it was filed under Cyber Security Act’.
