Desk Report: Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain’s service tenure has been extended by one year on the basis of a contract. Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification to this end on Tuesday (3 October 2023). Md. Mahbub Hossain was supposed to go into post retirement leave (PRL) on 13 October 2023. The reappointment of Md. Mahbub Hossain in the Cabinet Secretary Post will come into effect from 14 October 2023.
Earlier on Md. Mahbub Hossain was Senior Secretary to the Energy and Mineral Resources Division. Md Mahbub Hossain was appointed Cabinet Secretary on 3 January 2023.
Md. Mahbub Hossain belongs to Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) 8th batch (Administration Cadre). He has held different important posts in Commerce Ministry, Science and Technology Ministry, Planning Commission, Prime Minister’s Office etcetera.
