Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has said that the countrymen are always with her party. So there is no reason to worry about national and international conspiracies ahead of the upcoming general elections.
He said, ‘The next election is ahead. Conspiracies are being made at the national and international level regarding the upcoming elections. But we have nothing to worry about. Because the people are always with us with their mandate.
The Prime Minister said this during an exchange of views with affiliates and affiliates of Tungipara Upazila Awami League, local public representatives and eminent persons at the Tungipara Upazila Awami League office this morning.
Regarding the repeated attempts to kill him, he said, they have reached today’s position by facing bullets and bombs.
Sheikh Hasina said that Almighty Allah has given every person a task and will protect him until the task is completed.
He also said, ‘God is above to protect me and my party leaders and workers are in the field. Whenever I am attacked, my party always defends me.’
Pointing to the killing of 22 leaders and activists in a grenade attack on Awami League’s anti-terrorist peace rally on August 21, 2004, he said that the people of the party saved his life by making human shields in exchange for their lives.
Sheikh Hasina said, ‘I got the opportunity to serve the people – that’s the big thing.’
The Prime Minister inaugurated the Dhaka-Bhanga rail link at Mawa in Munshiganj yesterday afternoon and Dr. at Bhanga in Faridpur. Kazi reached Tungipara after addressing a mass gathering at Abu Yusuf Stadium.
The Prime Minister along with her younger sister Sheikh Rehana paid tribute by placing wreaths at the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman soon after reaching Tungipara in Gopalganj. At this time he recited Fateha, prayed and prayed.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to leave for Dhaka this afternoon after spending the night in Tungipara.
Sheikh Hasina said that her government is working to fulfill the dream of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, with the aim of changing the fate of the countrymen by giving them a better and beautiful life.He said, ‘I am doing everything possible for the welfare of the people.’
He thanked the people of his Tungipara-Kotalipara constituency for electing him through repeated polls, though he could not give them enough time as he had to see the welfare of the entire country.
He said, ‘After I lost my people, the people of the country and the leaders and workers of my party are my relatives.’
He said, ‘It would not have been possible to succeed if the people around me were not by my side.’
In the context of global economic recession and food crisis, the Prime Minister asked the countrymen and Awami League leaders and activists to increase the production of food grains.
“Bring every inch of land under cultivation to increase food production,” he said. We have to grow our own food ourselves.’
