Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has urged the BNP leaders including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir not to mislead the people through ignorant lies.

Obaidul Quader said, ‘nuclear energy is being used for human welfare in the developed countries of the world including America and Europe. Apart from Bangladesh, there are 438 nuclear power plants in 32 countries of the world. 10 percent of all electricity generated in the world comes from nuclear power. In France, 75 percent and in the United States, 20 percent of electricity is generated from nuclear power. It is highly eco-friendly due to zero carbon emissions. This kind of eco-friendly and cost-effective power generation is not the BNP’s choice, so they are complaining about Rooppur nuclear power plant today. How narrow minded, BNP General Secretary and other leaders can threaten to stop such mega projects!

In a statement, Obaidul Quader MP said, ‘Awami League never does politics of murder. The killer’s party is BNP. BNP leaders are threatening to kill Awami League leaders and activists by distorting the universally accepted truth and trying to create terror and anarchy in the country. Ziaur Rahman was the mastermind behind the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Military dictator Ziaur Rahman, the founder of BNP, executed a farcical court-martial, killing hundreds of freedom fighters including Colonel Taher, military officers, and thousands of soldiers of the army, navy and air force. BNP launched a hellish grenade attack on August 21, 2004 to kill the national leaders of Awami League including Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina.

In the statement, he also said that BNP is born with an anti-democracy and anti-development mindset. The honesty, patriotism, strong leadership and self-confidence required to move a nation forward do not have any kind of political practice in BNP. They have been continuously spreading anti-development propaganda and propaganda of the country. Constructive criticism is expected as an opposition party but no other country can find a shameful example of dirty conspiracy like BNP to sneer at development projects and mislead the people of the country in times of crisis through lies, rumours, and propaganda. They are even threatening to stop these development projects if they come to power. 
Obaidul Quader pointed out that stopping welfare projects for the people of the country is not something new for BNP. After assuming the responsibility of managing the state in 1996, Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina launched community clinic services to expand the access to health care for the marginal people of the country. But the ill-fated BNP-Jamaat coalition came to power and closed down the community clinic. BNP-Jamaat is an anti-national evil force that always wishes the people of the country ill.
