Staff correspondent :
Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Joint General Secretary of Awami League. Hasan Mahmud said, Mirza Fakhrul Saheb’s speech seems to be similar to the way the Western world is encouraging Israel, and also encouraging BNP. But in fact no one supported the movement of BNP, no one supported their demand for caretaker or neutral government.
In response to a question regarding the BNP Secretary General’s comment on contemporary issues at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon, the minister said, “The position of the Western world is giving courage to the movement of the BNP”, the minister said, “The position of the Western world is clear: it is giving courage to Israel and the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria and even Europe.” In various countries, including Australia, the Palestinians have been banned from holding a rally, that is, freedom of expression has been suppressed. In other words, the position of the western world is giving courage to Israel, which is engaged in crimes against humanity, on the other hand, Mirza Fakhrul Sahib is saying that it is also giving courage to them. But there is no support for BNP’s movement.’
Pointing to BNP’s dependence on foreign countries, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said, ‘BNP has no confidence in the people. That’s why, instead of looking at the people, BNP is now like a crow looking at who said what from a distant country. Mirza Fakhrul Sahebra is also looking towards the West just as the crow looks at the one who left the leftover food. We have very good relations with the western world and other countries including the US. Mirza Fakhrul Saheb is just trying to keep his workers a little stronger by saying this.’
Regarding foreign advice for dialogue before the election. Hasan said, ‘The power belongs to the people. We believe in the power of the people, the people are the owners of this country, the people will decide who will rule the country and who will not rule the country. Anyone from a friendly country can give any advice. The country is ours, the people who own the country and what the people of the country want is much more important. It is our prerogative to accept the advice they may give or not. However, there can never be a dialogue with the resignation of BNP leader Sheikh Hasina, dissolution of parliament, caretaker government.
In response to the questions of the journalists regarding the formation of the government during the election, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting said, “According to the constitution, there is no requirement or obligation to form the government during the election. The current government will perform the duties of the government during the election. During the elections, the whole of the current cabinet will not be there, whether to make it small or big, that is the prerogative of the Prime Minister.
In response to another question about BNP’s silence on Palestine, Hasan Mahmud said, ‘Israel is killing Palestinians like hunting birds. Food, drink, fuel, electricity have all been cut off in the entire Gaza Strip because of the war. Even hospitals are being bombarded. Crimes against humanity are being committed. The Prime Minister has stood up at the United Nations and pledged to stand by the Palestinians, and I, as the government’s information minister, have spoken out to stop this brutality and the government has criticized it.’
He said, ‘When elections come, BNP and Jamaat become strict Muslims and say various things against Awami League. But today they are silent when crimes against humanity are being committed. A great power may be unhappy, so BNP has actually sided with this brutality, brutality, war crimes and sided with Israel. The people of the country will recognize them.
