Jubo Mahila League will be vigilant on the streets: Information Minister

Staff correspondent:

Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Joint General Secretary of Awami League. Hashan Mahmud said that the Jubo Mahila League should be on alert so that BNP, a political party based on terror and blood, cannot occupy the streets.
He said this in the chief guest’s speech at a discussion meeting organized by the Jubo Mahila League to protest the Martyr Sheikh Russell Day and genocide in Palestine at the Awami League central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital this Friday afternoon.
Paying deep respect to the memory of martyr Sheikh Russell, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud recalled the history of August 15, 1975 and said, ‘Ziaur Rahman, the founder of BNP, was the chief mastermind behind the murder of 10-year-old child Sheikh Russell and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu and his family. They are still continuing the politics of murder through which they rose. Their politics is about terrorism and human blood.’
He said, in 2004, here, in front of this Bangabandhu Avenue office, under the patronage of Khaleda Zia government, they wanted to kill Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina by throwing grenades like rain under the direction of Tariq Rahman. 24 of our leaders and workers were killed, 500 people were injured, I still have 40 splinters in my body.’
The Information Minister said, ‘BNP said that the final game is in October. They said Khaleda Zia should be released within 48 hours. That didn’t happen either. That is, they lost in the semi-finals. Finals are not played with them anymore. Awami League will not play with them.
Regarding the situation in Palestine, the Information Minister said that more than 800 people, including children, died in the attack on the hospital in Palestine. They cannot find a place to bury them. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared a day of mourning in the country, protesting this brutality on Sheikh Russell Day as well. The whole world protested, from France to various European countries and even the United States condemned the attack on the hospital. Only BNP and its ally ‘Islam Islam Bala’ Jamaat are silent. The BNP has practically sided with this barbarity, this infanticide, sided with Israel, out of silence because a major power might be unhappy. People are recognizing them.
Mentioning the birth of Yuba Mahila League amid BNP’s persecution, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting said that the name of the group that picked up the tear gas cells thrown by the police and threw them back was Yuba Mahila League.
He said, ‘We are a street team, we were born on the street, so we know how to deal with someone on the street. We will not allow BNP to occupy the streets. I will tell the Jubo Mahila League to be like a watchman on the streets.’
Awami League Education and Human Resources Secretary Shamsunnahar Champa, Jubo Mahila League General Secretary Sharmin Sultana Lilly and others took part in the discussion under the chairmanship of Jubo Mahila League President Aleya Sarwar Daisy.
At the end of the lecture, the minister handed over educational materials to the students and participated in the march of the Juba Mahila League to protest the genocide in Palestine.
