Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Joint General Secretary of Awami League. Hasan Mahmud said, the country is never at ease in the hands of those who divide the country communally. 
He said, ‘The relief that prevails in the country under the leadership of the present Awami League government, if those who spread the poison of communalism during elections, come to power, then this relief will not exist among the people.’ 
The Minister said these things while visiting Santiniketan Sarvajanin Durga Puja Mandap of Svanirbhar Rangunia Union of Rangunia Upazila of Chittagong on Saturday night.
Hashan Mahmud said, ‘Please don’t forget how BNP persecuted the Hindu community all over the country after winning the 2001 elections. Just as they spread the venom of sectarianism, Israeli soldiers say nothing when people are hunted like birds in Palestine. They can do anything for power. They should be recognized.’
He said, ‘Our government has made adequate security arrangements in the country, people are now assured of relief. Nowadays the number of Durga Puja mandapas increases every year as people have the enthusiasm and ability, otherwise it would not have happened. This year more than 34 thousand puja mandaps are celebrating Durgotsavam. Every year hundreds of pujamandaps grow across the country.’
Information Minister said, ‘Our country belongs to everyone. This country became independent under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with the combined efforts of all Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians. Religion is to everyone’s country. Our puja festival in Bangladesh is not only limited to the Hindu community, but people from all communities participate in the festival. This is the culture of modern Bengal. The Bangladesh Awami League government is in power under the leadership of People’s Leader Sheikh Hasina, so there is relief among all communities, including the Hindu community.
Addressing the Sanatan community, he said, ‘In our country, who belongs to which religion or which community is never considered. We are all citizens of this country regardless of caste, religion and caste. That’s how everyone is alone together. Bangladesh Awami League is the only one that believes in non-communal spirit. Everyone should keep these words in mind in the upcoming elections.’
Later, the Minister visited various pujamandaps of the upazila and exchanged greetings with the Sanatan community. 
Chairman of Rangunia Upazila Parishad, veteran freedom fighter Swajan Kumar Talukdar, Mayor of Rangunia Municipality. Shahjahan Sikdar, North District Awami League Leader Aktar Hossain Khan, Upazila Awami League Organizing Secretary Abdur Rahim, Religious Affairs Secretary Jasim Uddin Talukder, District Jubo League Vice President Shamsuddoha Sikder Arju, Volunteer League General Secretary Nashir Uddin Riaz, Puja Udjan Parishad, Awami League and Leaders of allied organizations and representatives of Sanatan community were present on this occasion.
