Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF) President and former Member of Parliament of Dhaka-17 Constituency Veer Muktijodha S, M, Abul Kalam Azad said that with the aim of protecting independence and state sovereignty, establishing a welfare state for the people under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. A larger coalition of patriotic forces must be formed.
He said that there is no provision for interim government in the constitution, but following the convention, according to Article 56 of the constitution, the Prime Minister can change the government and announce the interim government.
Abul Kalam Azad said these things at the National Representative Conference of BNF held at Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad Bhavan Auditorium in the capital this afternoon.
Calling upon the leaders and activists from different districts of the country to prepare to participate in the 12th parliamentary elections, the President of BNF said that the Election Commission should inform the political parties about the overall preparations for the elections before announcing the election schedule. Apart from this, adequate security should be ensured for the candidates and equal rights and dignity of all parties should be ensured.
He called upon Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to take all necessary steps to make the parliament effective in coordination with the grand alliance and non-alliance patriotic political parties and forces.
