Foreign Secretary Masoud Bin Momen today called on the D-8 Commissioners to adopt a joint declaration to express unwavering solidarity and support for the Palestinian people.
A press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tonight said that he made this call during the opening of the two-day meeting of the 47th session of the D-8 Commission in Dhaka.
D-8 Secretary General Ambassador Isiaka Abdul Kadir Imam, commissioners of D-8 member states and officials of the D-8 Secretariat are participating in the meeting.
In his opening remarks, the Foreign Secretary reiterated Bangladesh’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination and a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders.
Condemning the horrific atrocities committed by Israeli occupation forces against innocent civilians in Gaza, he called for an immediate end to violence in Gaza and for humanitarian aid access to conflict zones to save the lives of innocent civilians.
The D-8 Commissioners and the D-8 Secretary General echoed Bangladesh’s proposal and agreed to adopt a joint declaration at the 47th session of the D-8 Commission.
Appreciating the remarkable 26-year journey of the D-8 as an economic alliance, the Foreign Secretary urged the Commissioners to deliver tangible results of this economic cooperation through the collective efforts of the D-8 member states.
