At least 17 people were killed in a collision between a passenger train and a freight train at Bhairab in Kishoreganj. Half a hundred were injured. The number of casualties is expected to increase.
The accident took place at the outer point of Bhairav railway station around 3.30 pm on Monday.
According to police, fire service and eyewitness sources, the freight train was heading towards Chittagong from Dhaka. At the same time, eleven Sindhur passenger train was going from Bhairab to Dhaka. The freight train hit the last two coaches of the passenger train at the outer point crossing of Bhairav railway station. Several coaches of the passenger train overturned. At the time of writing this report at 8:30 in the night, Superintendent of Police of Kishoreganj Russell Sheikh told Bass that 17 bodies have been recovered so far. Three platoons of BGB have been deployed at the accident site.
