President Md. Sahabuddin said that the future Bangladesh should be seen with the far-reaching vision of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in mind and intellect. Bangabandhu’s ideas which have not yet been implemented, should be implemented immediately. This unique tribute to the Father of the Nation is to gain the strength to fulfill the incomplete dreams of the Father of the Nation. The President said these things in a speech today on the occasion of conferring the title of Doctor of Laws on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of Dhaka University.
The President said that the decision to award the title of Doctor of Laws to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of Dhaka University is an expression of the humble respect and heartfelt love of the university authorities towards Bangabandhu.
He congratulated and welcomed the initiative of conferring the title of Doctor of Law on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of Dhaka University. Md. Sahabuddin said, Dhaka University, known as the Oxford of the East, is one of the largest educational institutions in the country. In 1921, the progress of this country’s educational institution started with the promise of free intellectual practice, and the mainstream is still developing after many ups and downs. He said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had dreamed of the liberation of the common people of the country from this school. From the great language movement to the liberation war, the students of this university have led all democratic movements and struggles and in every field of socio-economic development of the country. Basically, the name of Dhaka University is closely related to the history, tradition and culture of Bangladesh. 
The President said that many students and teachers of Dhaka University sacrificed their lives in the Great Liberation War. He paid deep respect to the memory of those brave martyrs. He also expressed hope that the current and former teachers and students of the university will play a more effective and positive role in building a science-minded and humanitarian nation inspired by the spirit of the great liberation war.
The President said that the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted Dhaka University to be the center of knowledge-scientific practice and mindfulness to advance the country’s higher education system to a unique height. He said, on the occasion of general elections in 1970, he said ‘Investment in education is the best investment for the development of any country or society – there can be no bigger investment.’ This thought is timeless, this thought is eternal. Dhaka University is always aware of his beliefs, responsibilities and duties. He said, as this school has played a leading role in every mass movement of independent Bangladesh, it has taken the initiative to free itself from the stigma by returning Bangabandhu’s studentship, today it has once again taken on the role of the pioneer through the organization of awarding Bangabandhu with a very prestigious title.
