Petrobangla chairman hopes to find more gas and oil fields in Sylhet

Staff Reporter: Janendra Nath Sarkar, chairman (Additional Secretary) of Bangladesh Oil Gas and Mineral Resources Corporation (Petrobangla), hopes to find more oil mines in Sylhet besides gas. He expected this in the speech of the chief guest at the discussion meeting with the participation of stakeholders under the Purification Strategy Plan 2023-24 at the conference center of Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Limited today Saturday.

Regarding gas connection in new houses, Janendra Nath said that the government is now using more gas in the industrial, fertilizer and electricity sectors. Industrial sector has to be given more priority to advance the country and increase employment. Still, the required gas is not being supplied compared to the demand. In the future, if gas production increases in the country, other issues including gas connection to homes will be considered.

Under the chairmanship of Petrobangla Director (Administration) Altaf Hossain and Assistant Manager Farzana Rahman, Joint Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Department Hafizur Rahman, Sylhet Additional Divisional Commissioner Jasim Uddin, Petrobangla General Manager Eng. Rahman, Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Ltd. Managing Director Engineer Manzoor Ahmad Chowdhury.
