Staff Reporter: Ahsanul Islam Titu, the newly appointed Minister of State for Commerce, said that he would give priority to commodity price control. He said this to the reporters after paying tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at No. 32 of Dhanmondi on Friday morning (January 12).
He said, common people are suffering due to high prices of daily commodities. Therefore, transparency and accountability of traders will be ensured besides prioritizing commodity price control. Initiatives will be taken by talking to everyone in this regard.
The new Minister of State for Commerce also said, ‘I will go to the Ministry of Commerce on Sunday. After that the priority will be fixed by talking to everyone. InshaAllah – I can confirm one thing, there will be no crisis in commodity prices. I will be careful about that so that no one can manipulate.
Assuring that the prices of the goods are within the purchasing power of common people, he said, ‘Transparency and accountability will be ensured among the businessmen. Because, if a company operates through transparency and accountability, then there will be no room for manipulation. Especially, if we can ensure transparency and accountability of those who are big suppliers of oil and sugar, I think the prices will be within the affordability of the common man.
