48 candidates of Awami League have been finalized for the reserved seats for women in the 12th National Parliament. The party will submit the final candidate list to the Returning Officer of the Election Commission next Sunday. Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this in a press conference on Wednesday.
Earlier, party president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina exchanged views with Awami League’s party nominees for reserved women’s seats in Parliament. Later, the candidate was finalized in the party’s Parliamentary Nomination Board meeting at Ganobhaban chaired by Sheikh Hasina.
After the meeting, Obaidul Quader said to the journalists, ‘After checking the nomination form of 1553 candidates, 48 candidates have to be selected. With the permission of party president Sheikh Hasina and unanimous consent, I am publishing the name of the nominated candidate of Awami League in 48 seats.
