Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said Cyber Security Act (CSA) is being misinterpreted, even after bringing radical changes to some sections, about which journalists had raised objections.

“There are only four cognizable sections in this act. All the other sections are non-cognizable. Law enforcing agencies have no scope or right to arrest someone without warrant except for cognizable offenses. So, the questions that are being raised in this regard are only the misinterpretation of this act,” he said.

He was talking to newsmen at Akhaura, Brahmanbaria, this morning. Anisul Huq earlier addressed the extended meeting of Dakkhin union Awami League at around 11.30am.

“Attempts were made to turn the wheel of independence backward after the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975. Ziaur Rahman had formed government with killers Razakars. They tried to destroy Bangladesh. He made the killers of Bangabandhu as high commissioners by appointing them at foreign ministry. After the killing of Ziaur Rahman, Ershad too tried to do the same,” he added.

The law minister said the next general election will be held on the last week of December, 2023, or the first week of January, 2024, and urged all to vote for Awami League election symbol Boat.

Presided over by Dakkhin union Awami League acting general secretary Md Mojnu Miah, the meeting was also addressed by Akhaura upazila parishad chairman Md Abul Kashem Bhuiyan, city mayor Md Takjil Khalifa Kazal and Dakkhin union chairman Md Jalal Uddin.
