BAF training plane crashes in Ctg, leaving pilot dead 

Squadron Leader Asim Jawad, one of the two  pilots who were injured when a fighter training aircraft of the Bangladesh  Air Force (BAF) crashed in city’s Patenga area this morning, died at BNS  Patenga Hospital this noon. “Pilot Asim Jawad passed away around 12:30 pm while undergoing treatment at  BNS Issa Khan Hospital in Patenga,” Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Port  Division Deputy Commissioner Shakila Sultana told the media. The injured pilot is Wing Commander Sohan. “The YAK130 training aircraft of the air force crashed in Patenga area around  11 am due to mechanical glitch and two pilots on board managed to eject from  the aircraft through parachutes. They were rescued and taken to hospital,”  said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a press release earlier.  Divers, fire fighters, sailors of different ships stationed at the river port  were working to find out the wreckage of the crashed plane. Duty Officer of Patenga Police Station Nurul Islam also confirmed the  incident, saying the pilots were rescued.
