RU Holds Gathering Against Israel’s Gaza Aggression

RU Correspondent: Rajshahi University (RU) teachers and students held a solidarity rally to protest the indiscriminate killings by Israeli forces in Gaza, Palestine. The gathering took place at Paris Road on Monday (April 7) at 11 a.m.

During the event, students displayed various placards and chanted slogans, including “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free,” “Long Live Palestine, Long Live Gaza,” “Stop Genocide in Gaza,” and “Destroy Israel.”

Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Farid Uddin Khan (Education) said, “At this very moment, as we stand here, my brothers and children in Palestine may be flying in the sky due to Israeli bombs. They are going through their days without eating. Their hands and feet are being cut off without any kind of anesthesia. Yet, we see that there is no one above their heads. World humanity is showing extreme failure. Europe, the cradle of civilization, has shown extreme failure.”

He further said, “If a university cannot stand against such oppression, it cannot be a university. We no longer have time for mere words. We have to move toward direct action. My call to the entire Muslim world is: let us unite and protest against the genocide that is happening all over the world. We will no longer look to the Western world. We will unite and stop the genocide taking place across the globe.”

Vice Chancellor Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib said, “The reason we are standing here today is because whenever there is any oppression or torture in different parts of the world, it is our institutional responsibility to stand up. This is not only the responsibility of Bangladesh but of all universities around the world. Because those who are here are guided by conscience. Thousands of universities around the world are standing up right now. I want to tell the students that if you want to stand by Palestine, you must know the history. Going to the UN will not help. Make yourselves worthy, so that we can one day see an independent Palestinian state.”
