Bangladesh’s future must be decided by its people: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir  addressing a discussion titled “Empowerment of Bangladesh: Leadership, Unity and Path to Growth’ at North-South University in the capital’s Bashundhara.

ET Desk: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said Bangladesh’s future must be decided by its people as no foreigners will come here to do so.

“Donald Trump will not decide Bangladesh’s future coming from the United States. Even neither Xi Jinping will do so coming from China, nor Narendra Modi from India. It’s we who have to do what needs to be done. We have to ingrain this issue in our hearts,” he said.

Mirza Fakhrul was addressing a discussion titled “Empowerment of Bangladesh: Leadership, Unity and Path to Growth’ at North-South University in the capital’s Bashundhara residential area.

Expressing concern over the imposition of tariffs by the United States, he said, “If this cannot be resolved, we will face even greater danger. I think if we can bring forward those involved in farmers and agriculture, give them work, give them new technology, then we will be able to overcome the problems very quickly.”

BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and organizing secretary Shama Obaid were present at the seminar with North South University Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdul Hannan Chowdhury in the chair.
