ET Desk: The health condition of Shakhawat Hossain Chowdhury, Chairman of Bangladesh Rural Journalists’ Association (BRJA), is very critical now.
He needs urgent advanced treatment, said BRJA in a statement today (Julqy 29)
Shakhawat Hossain Chowdhury was injured in his left leg in front of the National Press Club during the July movement.
His health issue came to the notice of other leaders of the organization when he came to attend a meeting today (July 29) at the National Press Club.
When asked about the condition, the BRJA Chairman told that his left leg was injured in an indiscriminate firing by police during a rally of Bangladesh Combined Professional Council at about 1pm in front of the National Press Club on August 4, 2024.
His current health condition is very bad, as he feels trouble in walking. He needs advanced treatment, the statement added.
Drawing an attention to the condition of the BRJA Chairman, who worked for establishing the rights of journalists for a long time, BRJA called upon the government to take necessary steps for ensuring his better treatment on an emergency basis.
